Yes, yes, I know.

Ok...so it's been since June since I've posted and I never put up my pics from Beijing. I did really go. Honest! But once in China, I couldn't access Blogger. It was completely blocked. So when I got back home, I just never updated anything (I'm more of a write it as I do it kind of guy). So, much later, but better than never, here are the pics of my trip. I don't even know if I can remember what I was thinking at the time I took them, but I'll see if I can give some insights.

My hotel was directly across from Olympic Park. I had a great view of the venues.

I did something bad. This was my first meal in China: a hamburger, french fries, and a Coke.

The first day that I got to go out it was very rainy and overcast (which was great because it was so freaking hot and humid!). Of course, I towered over everyone, but I only had one person ask if they could take my picture. But when I hit my head on a doorframe, all of the little ladies around me started to giggle.

I went to the Forbidden City. It really was massive and quite majestic.

Bert's "Proof he was there" picture.

I took a walk through Olympic Park one day. It was pretty cool being up close to the Bird's Nest. They even designed the ground lights to look like the stadium.

Another hotel next to mine designed to look like a dragon.

The National Convention Center. It was the original building for all of the press during the Olympics, then they turned it in to the Convention Center.

The Pearl Market. It was fun, but the people there are VERY agressive. One woman grabbed my hand as I started to leave and tried to pull me back in to her stall. Be prepared to bargain!

I took a walk outside my hotel on the last day and saw this sign. It intrigued me.

On my last day, I hired a tour guide to take me to the Great Wall. It was the only clear day of my trip, so I really lucked out. It was a pretty amazing site!

Bert and I tried to stay out of trouble.

Parts of the wall were VERY steep. These pictures don't even show just how steep it was.

Hot, hot, HOT day! And so incredibly humid. Do you like my gut??

I'm glad I had the opportunity to go and was able to take a little bit of time to see a few things. I can't say I'm dying to go back, but I enjoyed myself while I was there.
